privacy, heat, placement of equipment, storage, plumbing, electrics and connectivity
equipment?
Vehicle Interior
• How many clients and staff members will be on the vehicle at any given time?
• How will circulation work within the confined interior space and for entering and exiting
the vehicle?
• How will you create space for clients who are waiting, clients who are registered and
clients who are being seen?
• How much on-board storage is needed for your care delivery model?
• Are you replenishing your supplies at base every night?
• Are key supplies easily accessible to staff members the moment they need
them?
• How will you keep supplies clean or sterile?
• How will you comply with disability access regulations?
• How many examination areas can be comfortably accommodated while still maintain-
ing clear walkways for staff?
• Will you provide on-vehicle bathrooms or at least handwashing facilities?
• What measures will you put into place for infection control?
• Do you have an infection control manual on board?
• How often will you perform terminal cleanings of the vehicle?
• Which surface types are best for infection control?
• How will you maintain hospital or clinic standards on the road?
• Do you need a medication/vaccine refrigerator and/or freezer?
• How many electrical outlets will you need to accommodate equipment and electronics?
• Are handrails or other safety equipment required?
• What fire safety and staff security issues will you need to address?
• Will you use linen or paper coverage for beds and stretchers, and how will you store or
dispose of it?
• Where will you store sharps and other biomedical waste?
• Is there the possibility that you will retrofit the vehicle in the future, and will you need
to build extra space for that now?
