Advocacy efforts are essential for expanding community partnerships and driving legislative momentum toward integrating mobile health solutions into the broader healthcare ecosystem. By highlighting disparities in access to care, March of Dimes advocates for collaboration among key stakeholders—including healthcare providers, policymakers, and community-based organizations—to expand mobile health initiatives. These efforts have led to increased funding opportunities, policy proposals, and greater recognition of mobile health as a vital tool for reducing disparities in maternal and infant health (MIH) outcomes. As a result, there is growing legislative interest in establishing sustainable frameworks to scale mobile health programs, ensuring that underserved populations continue to benefit from innovative and accessible care solutions. Many pregnant individuals face significant barriers to care, including transportation challenges, provider shortages, and systemic healthcare inequities.

To address these disparities, March of Dimes developed the Mom and Baby Mobile Health Centers® program, which delivers essential perinatal services directly to underserved communities. By turning advocacy into action, March of Dimes engages with legislators at the state and federal levels and integrates innovative technologies into our Mom and Baby Mobile Health Centers. With fewer than 2% of existing mobile health programs focused on maternal health, March of Dimes is leading the way in expanding access to mobile care for moms and babies through advocacy, innovation, and timely program implementation.

Recent policy developments have created new opportunities to strengthen mobile health initiatives. In partnership with community and corporate organizations, March of Dimes’ mobile units provide integrated care, leveraging legislative advancements—such as expanded telehealth access and remote patient monitoring (RPM) technology—to improve MIH outcomes, particularly for high-risk individuals. As momentum builds, sustained advocacy and policy innovation will be essential to keeping mobile health solutions at the forefront of the fight for equitable healthcare access across the United States.
