Migrant workers and their families face numerous healthcare access barriers, including geographic isolation, lack of transportation, and limited clinic hours. To address these challenges, ReGenesis Healthcare, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) expanded its after-hours services to a year-round model and implemented a mobile health unit to deliver comprehensive medical care directly to migrant communities. This initiative has led to a significant increase in the number of migrant workers served, as well as measurable improvements in key quality metrics, including preventive screenings, chronic disease management, and overall patient engagement.
A critical component of this initiative has been the establishment of strong partnerships with local agricultural sites, which play a key role in connecting mobile health services with migrant workers. This presentation will explore how these partnerships were developed, the importance of outreach efforts, and strategies for successfully implementing and sustaining outreach services in migrant communities. By working directly with farm owners, community organizations, and other stakeholders, ReGenesis Healthcare has been able to increase trust, engagement, and healthcare utilization among this underserved population.
Additionally, to further improve access to essential medications, pharmacy services will be integrated into the mobile health unit this year. This addition aims to reduce medication barriers and ensure continuity of care by providing on-site prescription fulfillment for chronic conditions and acute needs.
Attendees will gain valuable insights into the planning, execution, and sustainability of mobile health services for migrant populations. The presentation will cover key lessons learned, challenges faced, and best practices for maximizing healthcare outreach through mobile units. By leveraging mobile health technology and strategic partnerships, healthcare organizations can improve health outcomes and reduce disparities among migrant workers and their families.
