Workshop: Compassion Fatigue

clinic

Compassion Fatigue is an occupational hazard, which means that almost everyone who cares for clients/patients will eventually develop some measure of fatigue. Sufferers can exhibit a spectrum of symptoms including hopelessness, a decrease in experiences of pleasure, depression, constant stress and anxiety, sleeplessness or nightmares, and a pervasive negative attitude. We find in the integrated healthcare field it has a significant presence and can lead to negative outcomes for these helpers and can have an impact on client/patient care, personal relationships, and can lead to health issues. The participants will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary toidentify risk and resiliency factors essential to caring for one’s own health while providing professional care to the clients/patients they serve. Additionally, participants will conduct a hands-on assessment during the class and the instructor will review the results. Mindful Self-Care is all about learning how to take care of yourself and identify those issues that trigger you to act in a negative manner. Self-care helps individuals to recharge and refocus.
