Cancer screening is one of the most severely impacted cancer control strategies as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In response to COVID-19, many hospitals and other healthcare facilities delayed or cancelled elective procedures, including routine cancer screenings, beginning in March 2020. Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center worked diligently with local, state and regional partners to identify strategies to safely resume cancer screening in the community setting.
