School-Based Health Care: Increasing Access to Health Services through Mobile Health Partnerships (PDF)
Through partnerships, mobile healthcare and school-based health centers (SBHCs) can increase students’ access to high-quality health and mental health services. The School-Based Health Alliance, with support from the Leon Lowenstein Foundation, explores strategies for mobile healthcare entities to integrate with school-based health centers. In this session, SBHA will share the School-Based Mobile Health Care Toolkit and the overview of the accompanying training curriculum. The participants will learn about the models of school-based health care, which address increasing health equity by serving youth in schools, where they spend most of their day. This session will share the lessons learned from SBHA’s work with mobile healthcare partners working with schools and SBHCs, focusing on foundational pieces of creating an integrated approach to service provision. There are core aspects for integrating mobile healthcare with SBHCs, such as developing a memorandum of understanding, staffing models, consent, data sharing and collection, and partnership roles, responsibilities, and expectations. Participants will explore the challenges and opportunities in integrating mobile healthcare, SBHCs, and schools.
