The key to the success of the Community Health Program on the MIRA bus lies in the strategic partnership between Vail Health and the Eagle Valley Community Foundation. This collaboration expands access to healthcare by providing preventative health screenings, healthcare navigation services, and resource connections to vulnerable populations in our community by bringing care to the people. This presentation will identify the strategies used to reduce barriers to healthcare access in our community, review our approach to providing culturally appropriate care, and highlight the methods that maintain the strategic partnership that allows us to connect the community to healthcare services.

To address the unique concerns of our community, a rural county in the Rocky Mountains home to several world-class ski resorts, Vail Health, and the Eagle Valley Community Foundation partner to provide vulnerable populations with connection to care and resources. The Community Health Program on the MIRA Bus, provides services and resource connection to individuals and families in the community on a 40-foot repurposed RV, with a special focus on neighborhoods where we see the highest concentration of poverty and systemic barriers to services, such as low socioeconomic status and monolingual Spanish language use.

This presentation will discuss our strategic partnership and our outreach strategies, with special focus on how we utilize the strengths of both of our organizations to reduce barriers to healthcare access for the Spanish-speaking community. We will review our measurable outcomes in patient satisfaction, community engagement, preventative health screening results, vital signs, behavioral health assessments, approved Medicaid applications, and successful connection to other resources, and we will discuss our lessons learned regarding providing preventative health care screenings in the community.
