Live in Your Community: Maximizing Impact and Sustainability for Your Mobile Program (PDF)

clinic

Creating a sustainable mobile health program without compromising community impact can be tricky. La Clinica has learned much in our 11 years of Mobile Health services, and we continue to learn more every year. During this Learning Session, we invite you and your mobile program to “Live in your community” as we share what we have learned through some of the biggest challenges our community has faced over the last few years. In doing so, we will look at how we have: navigated each challenge with thoughtful intention; worked with and within our community through meaningful partnerships; and evolved our team to be small, versatile, and have maximum impact on the health and wellbeing of the most vulnerable populations in Southern Oregon.

COVID aside, Southern Oregon has been racked with urban fires, drought resulting in out of work Migrant workers left stranded and out of money, and spikes in Fentanyl laced everything. Yet we have met each of these challenges, often overlapping one another, because of the groundwork laid beforehand. Working closely with community partners, new and old, we create systems of services that complement one another without putting all stress on one organization. Creating a clear perspective of scope and capacity provides the needed structure to prioritize efforts for maximum impact. And just as important, choosing and developing a core team, trained not only in their positions, but in behavioral health, trauma informed care, and cultural agility; supporting the team’s skills and natural problem-solving abilities to be both flexible in the field and culturally agile to best meet our clients’ individual needs.

As Mobile Health Clinics, we have the unique opportunity to go where no one else dares, to listen to the individuals and populations daily struggling to survive, and to make their voices heard. Join us and learn how you too can become indispensable, affecting not only individuals, but bringing positive, lasting change to your community.
