Disaster Response for Mobile Health Clinics

11/12/25
01:00 PM-02:15 PM

Presenter: TBD

Once disaster strikes, mobile clinics must be able to respond quickly, safely, and effectively to meet community needs. This Masterclass focuses on the operational aspects of disaster response, from activation protocols and deployment logistics to patient care under crisis conditions. Participants will practice applying field-tested tools such as deployment checklists, triage workflows, and documentation strategies that comply with regulatory requirements. The training also addresses team coordination and communication, both internally among staff and externally with the public and partner agencies. Special attention is given to protecting staff well-being during prolonged deployments and planning for the transition from response to recovery through debriefing, evaluation, and continuity planning. Building on preparedness strategies, this session ensures mobile health programs are fully equipped to deliver care when it matters most.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe activation protocols and identify key decision points that initiate mobile health emergency deployment.
  2. Utilize deployment checklists and logistical planning tools to rapidly mobilize, navigate, and set up mobile clinic operations in affected areas.
  3. Apply best practices for field operations, including triage, patient care, referral coordination, and compliant documentation under crisis conditions.
  4. Implement internal communication strategies for team coordination and external messaging for public information during emergencies.
  5. Recognize and address staff safety concerns, fatigue, and psychological impacts during extended emergency deployments.
  6. Plan for transition from response to recovery by establishing record-keeping procedures, debriefing staff, and conducting post-event evaluations.
